The Microtubes X is a precision tool fit for the modern bassist and provides the answer to the question that all sound engineers have been asking for decades: how to use your clean and distorted signal in parallel. Not only is that possible with this stompbox, it also provides control over every facet of the distortion-based spectrum. From brilliantly articulated high-gain, to mild overdrive, and on to warm fuzz - every flavour is possible. And, just like with everything that Darkglass ever graces us with, this pedal gives you incredibly deep control over the EQ. Using the high-pass frequency control, you can actually select the cut-off frequency that you want to distort from 100Hz for a thick, fuzzy tone up to 1kHz for that deliciously defined and crisp tone that slices through the mix. The low-pass filter, meanwhile, makes sure that the cut-off point is pulled back towards the high-pass. This gives you a frequency range of 50Hz (in the deep-diving sub-bass range) up to 500Hz. The Drive pot does exactly what you'd expect, and the potent Mix pot is included for striking that perfect balance between the DI and your preferred level of distortion. And, to finish in exacting style, the Mids pot is actually active, and is able to release a boost or cut of +/- 12dB in the 500Hz range.
